Spring is on its way, bringing warmer weather and the perfect opportunity to get your vehicle ready for the road. After enduring months of harsh winter conditions, your car may need some extra attention to stay in top shape. Here are five common car issues to check this spring: 1. Weak Battery Cold temperatures can take a toll on your car's battery, causing it to weaken or die. If you’ve had trouble starting your vehicle, it might be time for a battery check. Regular inspections and timely replacements can prevent unexpected breakdowns and keep your car running smoothly. 2. Low Tire Pressure Cold weather can cause tire pressure to drop, leading to flat or underinflated tires. Driving on low-pressure tires is not only unsafe but can also cause faster tire wear and decreased fuel efficiency. Check your tire pressure regularly and maintain the manufacturer’s recommended levels. If your vehicle has a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), be sure to keep an eye on any alerts. 3. Engine Issues Winter conditions force your engine to work harder, which can lead to problems like rough idling, misfires, or reduced power. These warning signs may indicate a larger issue that requires prompt attention. If you notice any of these symptoms, schedule an inspection right away to prevent further damage. 4. Brake Wear Cold weather can accelerate brake pad wear, leading to squeaking, grinding, or reduced braking performance. Since brakes are a critical safety component, keeping them in top condition is essential. Visit any Auto Select location this month for a Free Brake Inspection and ensure your brakes are ready for the road ahead. 5. Suspension Problems Winter potholes and rough roads can damage your suspension system, causing worn-out shocks or springs. If your ride feels bumpy or your vehicle bounces excessively, it’s time for a suspension check. Regular inspections can catch issues early and save you from costly repairs down the road. By addressing these common springtime car issues promptly, you can avoid expensive repairs and enjoy a safer, smoother driving experience. At Auto Select, we’re here to help keep you and your vehicle safe all year round. Schedule your service today and drive into spring with confidence!

KEEP YOUR VEHICLE RUNNING SMOOTHLY: FOLLOW YOUR MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
January 29, 2025
Today we want to talk about your engine air filter. That’s the filter that cleans the air before it’s burned in your engine. People wonder how often they should change their engine air filter . The simple answer is when it’s dirty . That’s a function of how much air has passed through the filter, so your manufacturer will recommend a mileage interval for replacing the air filter. But if you drive in areas with heavy dirt, dust and smog, that will affect how quickly the filter needs replacement. That’s why we check the air filter with every full-service oil change. We can visually tell if the filter needs to be changed. Your filter can only hold so much dirt. Once the filter is full, dirt will pass through to the engine . This dirt gums up the combustion chamber and hurts fuel economy and may cause damage. It can also contaminate the Mass Air Flow Sensor which will affect drivability and can be fairly expensive to replace. A dirty air filter would also restrict the amount of air that gets to the engine which hurts fuel economy. We can replace your engine air filter with one that matches the factory specifications, or you can upgrade your filter for enhanced performance. So, when your service advisor shows you your dirty air filter, you now know how important it is to get it replaced!
